Privacy Policy

Overview

Tapp is a life counter for Magic: The Gathering. It has no accounts and no advertising, so there is little to collect and nothing to sell. This page is the specific version of that claim: what stays on your device, what is sent anonymously, and what is never gathered at all.

Data Collection

Tapp does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information such as your name, email, Apple ID, or precise location.

What Tapp Stores Locally

Tapp saves the following data on your device only, using local storage:

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

Analytics

Tapp uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data that helps us improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.

Firebase may automatically collect:

Tapp also logs anonymous events describing how the app is used, never who is using it:

Alongside those, Tapp records a small profile of preferences so usage can be read in groups rather than one device at a time: the active theme, the usual player count, starting life and layout, a rough bracket of how many games have been played, and whether poison, commander damage or partners are ever used. None of it identifies a person or a device.

No personal data, usernames, IP addresses, or advertising identifiers are stored by us. Tapp does not use advertising frameworks, cookies, or fingerprinting.

For more information on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Crash Reports

Tapp uses Google Firebase Crashlytics so that crashes can be found and fixed. When the app crashes, it sends an anonymous report containing the technical state at that moment: device model, operating system version, and the sequence of code that failed. These reports contain no personal information and cannot identify you.

Tips and Purchases

Tapp is free, and stays free. Settings offers an optional one-time tip you can leave if you want to support development.

Those payments are processed entirely by the App Store or Google Play. Tapp never sees or stores your payment details, billing address, or store account. The app is only told whether a purchase completed. It logs that a tip completed and which of the three tiers it was, the same anonymous way it logs everything else. Tips unlock nothing and are not tied to any profile.

Third-Party Services

Tapp integrates Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) for anonymous usage metrics and crash reporting, and the App Store and Google Play billing systems for optional tips. No other third-party services that collect user data are used.

Children's Privacy

Tapp does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous analytics described above cannot identify individual users. The app is safe for users of all ages.

This Website

The app and this website are separate things, and everything above is about the app. The site itself (tappcounter.app) uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where visitors arrive from, and whether a visit ends at the App Store or Google Play. That involves a Google cookie in your browser. The site has no accounts and no forms of its own, and nothing it measures is connected to anything the app stores on your device. For how Google handles this data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
